New Ukraine Fast-Tracks Tested with Tech Companies Bringing New/Current Employees to Israel

In Phase One, the program is being tested in the high-tech industry, which has at least 25,000 workers abroad, and job-matching infrastructure in place for candidates. After appealing to the Knesset Economic Affairs Committee on this issue, The Reboot Startup Nation was asked to be the pilot partner.

Aiming to provide a safe haven for displaced professionals and their families, Israel will allow a set of eligible people immediate entry clearance and temporary work authorization. The Fast-Track Phase One program will be tested starting on March 29, 2022.

Member of Knesset Ron Katz (Yesh Atid), Chairman of the Sub-Committee for Promotion of High-Tech, reached an emergency agreement with Israel's Immigration and Population Authority to grant immediate permission to enter Israel with temporary work authorization, for displaced tech professionals who are citizens of Ukraine.

MK Ron Katz said,For the last month, Israeli companies have been fighting to get their Ukrainian employees and their families to safety as fast as possible. Due to this unprecedented need to provide an immediate safe haven, I am happy to announce that with the Ministry of Immigration and Population Authority, we have found a way forward. As a first step, Israel can now offer a Fast Track for professionals in tech, and their families, regardless of their rights under the Law of Return. This will cut red tape and give people time to consider their future.” Sophia Tupolev, co-founder of The Reboot Startup Nation, said, “Last week, our team appealed to MK Ron Katz at the Knesset's Economic Affairs Committee, to start making Israel a safe haven for displaced people from Ukraine - without delay. They said yes. MK Katz was the right partner to find a way to make Israel a safe haven, leveraging the power of the high-tech ecosystem as a first step.”
